Robyn Begley Advises “Care for Yourself” During Holiday Season

In a recent blog post, Robyn Begley, AONL CEO and senior vice president and chief nursing officer at the American Hospital Association (AHA), discussed the emotional risks associated with winter’s dark days, the holiday season and the ongoing pandemic, urging readers to care for themselves. “Thankfully, hospitals and health systems continue to expand and enhance the mental health resources available for all health care workers,” she wrote. Begley advised readers to seek resources on the AHA website as well as webinars and tools from the Duke Center for Healthcare Safety and Quality, which delve into the value of gratitude and how it can mitigate burnout. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” she added. “Tell a family member, a friend, your primary care provider or call SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357).” (AHA blog post, 12/11/20)
