Study: AI training for PPE use is effective
An artificial intelligence (AI) training platform showing health care workers how to wear personal protective equipment properly improved correct use, a study published in the American Journal of Infection Control found. The prospective cohort study assessed 293 health care workers who received training from an AI system, which evaluates the putting on and removal of PPE while offering real-time feedback on user technique. Health care workers improved their ability to accurately don the PPE after each guided session conducted at three monthly intervals, attaining a 100% accuracy rate for correct PPE use after two guided sessions. They reduced the time to don and remove the PPE by 15 and 22 seconds, respectively, and maintained improvements with three monthly training sessions.
