Pandemic, race inequity create new C-suite leadership demands
In the face of COVID-19 and increased public awareness of racial inequity, health systems are rethinking which skills are most urgently needed to lead from the C-suite. According to Modern Healthcare, some hospitals are delaying leadership transitions while they consider how best to equip their leadership teams with individuals who can address current challenges: staff burnout, supply chain disruptions, financial strains, and increased use of telehealth among them. Health systems also are concerned about addressing a lack of racial and gender diversity on their boards and executive teams. (Modern Healthcare story, 7/22/20)
