NCSBN video explains practice-academic partnership model
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, AONL and eight other nursing organizations have endorsed a proposed model of practice-academic partnerships between health care facilities and pre-licensure registered nurse and practical/vocational nursing programs. The partnership, which is explained in this short video from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), would allow students to work as paid employees, supporting nursing services in health care facilities in this time of crisis while earning academic credits and gaining clinical experience. In the model, nursing students, whose skills and progress would be monitored and evaluated by a faculty member, would have opportunities to learn about emergency management, population health and interdisciplinary teams.
