Kaiser Foundation surveys Black Americans' views of health care system
The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) and The Undefeated teamed up to conduct a joint nationwide survey of African American experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Half of the 777 African American adults surveyed said they would probably or definitely not accept a coronavirus vaccine. By comparison, two-thirds of white respondents and 60% of Hispanic respondents said they would probably or definitely be vaccinated. This relative distrust of the health care system among African Americans comes amid the disproportionate impact of the virus on Black communities, where 39% said they know someone who has died from COVID-19. Survey responses were collected from Aug. 20 to Sept. 14. (KFF news release, 10/13/20)
