Joint Commission supports family presence despite adverse conditions
This week’s issue of Joint Commission Online included a summary of eight guidelines to assist organizations in preserving the presence of family members in health care settings despite the presence of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. “Many of the stringent safety measures established to mitigate the risks of contagion have unintentionally caused patients, staff, and care partners to suffer isolation, hardship, and emotional vulnerability when compassionate care is most needed,” the article stated.
