Joint Commission issues statement on masking
In a statement made last week, the Joint Commission expressed its support for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines recommending universal masking in health care settings to protect patients and staff. The guidance applies in all communities where COVID-19 is present and to all people entering health care facilities, regardless of symptoms. To assist with rapid implementation of the protocols, the Joint Commission developed signage and infographics. Organizations can post these items at facility entrances and use them to educate staff and patients. (Joint Commission Online statement, 4/23/20)
