IFDHE toolkit addresses cultural humility training
The COVID-19 pandemic’s disproportionate impact on Black Americans, Native American tribes and tribal populations, Latino Americans and other communities of color is generating a renewed focus on advancing health equity. Training and the Culture of Learning, the latest toolkit developed by the American Hospital Association (AHA) Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE) as part of its Health Equity Resources series, provides evidence-based practices that support cultural humility along with implicit bias training and education. “As a field, we must recommit to eliminating health disparities,” said Joy Lewis, AHA’s senior vice president of health equity strategies and IFDHE executive director. “Our nation’s hospitals and health system leaders are uniquely positioned to deploy strategies and solutions to advance health equity, diversity and inclusion and share those successes broadly—strategies and solutions that this toolkit provides.”
