NINR editorial calls for prioritizing SDOH research

Prioritizing research on the social determinants of health will maximize an understanding of health and the impact of solutions to address health disparities and advance health for all, says National Institute of Nursing Research Director Shannon Zenk, PhD, RN, and colleagues. Writing in JAMA Internal Medicine, they call for embracing a transdisciplinary approach and prioritizing actionable research targeting upstream factors. Separately, Margo Edmunds, PhD, director of the AcademyHealth Center on Diversity, Inclusion and Minority Engagement, discusses in an American Hospital Association podcast how its Roadmap for Researchers guide can help hospitals and other organizations create equitable research teams to improve health research, and ultimately, improve health equity.
