Few patients become infected with COVID-19 in hospitals
Hospital-developed COVID-19 rates remain low and are decreasing, according to a recent study by Epic Research. The researchers looked at patients who tested negative on the day of or day after admission and then tested positive six or more days later. They found roughly 1.8% of patients developed COVID-19 while in the hospital at the highest peak in December 2020, with in-hospital infection acquisition rising and falling in relation to the number of infected patients admitted. In the researchers’ view, fears of infection with COVID-19 in the hospital are unfounded. (Epic Research study, 2/7/22)
