CDC: Adolescents test positive for COVID-19 twice as often as children
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released data this week on the incidence of COVID-19 in children. The agency reported adolescents aged 12-17 years old were twice as likely as children aged 5-11 to contract the coronavirus. Children with underlying conditions were more prone to severe outcomes from the disease. The results could serve as a baseline for monitoring trends and evaluating mitigation strategies.
