BA.2 sub-variant accounts for 23% of current U.S. COVID cases
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the omicron BA.2 subvariant of omicron accounted for roughly 23% of the coronavirus variants circulating in the United States on March 12. BA.2 is spreading rapidly in Asia and Europe. An article last week in the New York Times provided a summary of what was known about BA.2’s severity and transmissibility and the effectiveness of vaccines and medications in countering the subvariant.
