Violence, retention are top of mind at 2019 CNO Exchange
Nurse executives gathered last week at CNO Exchange, an invitational forum where nurse leaders shared their approaches to workplace violence, retaining seasoned nurses and other issues of concern to the profession. AONL member Erin LaCross, DNP, RN, of Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, Ind., shared her organization's Emeritus Nurse program, which provides older nurses with flexible work options allowing them to stay in the workplace and mentor the younger generation. AONL member Jean Putnam, DNP, RN, of Community Health Network in Indianapolis spoke about strategic hiring of nurses. Participants discussed the importance of leadership support for employees who experience violence on the job and shared ways they are instituting safeguards to keep nurses and others safe.
