ED groups launch anti-violence campaign
In response to physical assaults against emergency department (ED) clinicians, two organizations have launched a campaign to help prevent attacks against ED personnel. The American College of Emergency Physicians and the Emergency Nurses Association report 70% of ED nurses and almost half of ED physicians have been assaulted at work. The groups are inviting clinicians to share their stories and access resources on the No Silence on ED Violence website. The campaign hopes to spur action to ensure a violence-free workplace for the groups’ members, their colleagues and patients. Additional resources are available from American Hospital Association initiative, Hospitals Against Violence. (HealthLeaders Media story, 11/18/19)
