Wellspan Health discusses its zero harm commitment
An American Hospital Association podcast features WellSpan Health and its commitment to zero harm through a tiered structure for daily safety huddles and a fostered culture of continuous improvement. The York, Pa.,-based system has used tiered huddles since 2021 with the aim of achieving zero harm for patients, providers and staff. Providers and staff huddle to identify concerns, celebrations and opportunities to improve processes, with information subsequently elevated as needed to direct managers, directors of operations, senior managers and executives. All employees participate ─ including cleaning staff who learn their role is to prevent infections ─ to underscore how everyone is responsible for patient safety and the best patient outcomes possible.
