Report finds improvements in patient safety
Hospital patients reported improvements in their overall care experience and perception of safety alongside gains in key safety outcomes, according to an American Hospital Association and Press Ganey report. In addition, health care workers reported an improved experience, resilience and perceptions of safety culture. The report found hospitals with a strong safety culture reported a better experience for patients and the workforce. The report surveyed 13 million patients after their hospital stays and 1.7 million health care workers. Key safety outcomes such as falls and infections decreased across more than 25,000 units in 2,430 hospitals. Released during Patient Safety Awareness Week (March 9-15), the report demonstrates continued positive trends for hospitals first outlined in a September 2024 report released by the AHA and Vizient.
