Prize-winning hospitals co-design care with community
Leaders at Englewood Health in N.J. and New York-Presbyterian Hospital discuss how communities and health systems can collaborate to improve quality of life, and how solutions can target populations with specific health care barriers. Both systems were 2024 finalists for the American Hospital Association’s prestigious Foster G. McGaw Prize, which recognizes efforts of hospitals to improve the health and well-being of their communities. Speaking in an AHA podcast, the hospital leaders describe how they use data from their community health needs assessment to co-develop programs with community organizations and social service agencies to improve health and access to care. Both prioritize listening to community groups, incorporating their feedback and obtaining their buy-in before starting programs.
