New NOBC resources available

The Nurses on Boards Coalition has developed materials to prepare nurses for board service and communicate the value nurses bring to boards. Developed as part of an AARP-backed Nursing Innovations Fund award, the materials include a self-assessment to determine readiness for board service, how to identify and engage key supporters, webinars to prepare nurses from underrepresented backgrounds for board service, an elevator pitch to explain the value nurses bring to boards and social media messaging to encourage more nurses to serve. An NOBC survey of 3,095 nurses serving on boards revealed a need to support nurses in pursuing membership on hospital, legislative/policy, pharmaceutical/insurance and rural boards.
