Health systems discuss sharing virtual nursing technology
As health systems implement virtual nursing technology, leaders need to determine which options best suit the needs of their workforce and each patient population. Other hospital departments have expressed interested in using the technology. Health systems may need to create a queuing system based on priority to determine which virtual health workers enter the patient’s room and at what time. The system also will need to ensure the virtual visits do not conflict with the bedside nurse’s time with the patient. Shared access to virtual care technology could enable more disciplines to take on tasks performed by nurses, freeing nurses to devote more time to patient care. (HealthLeaders Media article, 3/18/25)
