AONL signs letter supporting ICAN Act for NPs

AONL joined more than 260 organizations in signing letters to the leaders of the House Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees and the Senate Finance Committee expressing their support for legislation to enable nurse practitioners to practice to the full extent of their education and training. The Improving Care and Access to Nurses Act (H.R. 1317/S. 575) would authorize NPs participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs to order cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, certify when patients with diabetes need therapeutic shoes, refer patients for medical nutrition therapy and perform all mandatory examinations in skilled nursing facilities, among other duties.
