AONL Survey Sheds Light on Nurse Leaders’ COVID-19 Experience
Support from organizations and teams exceeded expectations for a majority of nurse leaders, according to a recent survey shedding light on their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 Insight Survey, conducted by AONL and Joslin Marketing, gathered responses from more than 1,800 nurse leaders during July 2020. Among the survey’s other findings: nurse leaders named communicating and implementing policy changes, providing surge staffing, maintaining staff well-being and access to personal protective equipment as their biggest challenges. “As the voice of nursing leadership, it is paramount AONL understands the needs of nurse leaders, shares lessons learned with the field and advocates for resources to protect and support our health care workers on the frontlines of this pandemic,” said AONL CEO Robyn Begley, who is also senior vice president and chief nursing officer of the American Hospital Association (AHA). “I want to thank all the respondents, although busy with the needs of their patients and nursing teams, who took time to give us their feedback. I also want to thank Joslin Marketing for volunteering staff time to administer and compile the survey results. We deeply appreciate their contribution to the field.”
