AONL Names Appointed Board Members
AONL appointed three board members to serve two-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2025: Karen Drenkard, PhD, RN; Nicole Gruebling, DNP, RN; and Marie Prothero, PhD, RN. Drenkard is president of Drenkard Healthcare Consulting in Fairfax, Va. Her previous positions have included serving as executive director of the American Nursing Credentialing Center and the Magnet Recognition program and chief nurse at Inova Health System in Falls Church, Va. Gruebling serves as vice president, member networks at Irving, Texas-based Vizient. She oversees several national networks including those for chief nurses and informatics executives. She worked as a nurse leader at a Level 1 trauma center and has had leadership roles in both acute and ambulatory care. Prothero is an assistant professor and undergraduate program coordinator at the Brigham Young University College of Nursing in Provo, Utah. She has more than 35 years of experience in hospital and nurse executive roles, with a strong focus on developing teams related to patient safety, performance improvement and hospital operations.
