CDC updates COVID-19 health equity strategy
To fulfill its vision that “All people have the opportunity to attain the highest level of health possible,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) developed a COVID-19 response health equity strategy, which the agency recently updated. COVID-19 disproportionately affects a variety of populations, many of whom are subject to myriad health disparities. To improve the health outcomes of these populations, the strategy focuses on four priority areas: expanding the evidence base; expanding programs for testing, contact tracing, isolation, health care and recovery to reach populations at increased risk; supporting essential and front-line workers to prevent transmission of COVID-19; and developing an inclusive workforce equipped to assess and address the needs of an increasingly diverse U.S. population.
