Wakefield tapped to revamp CDC
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky tapped Mary Wakefield, the highest-ranking nurse in the Obama administration, to revamp the agency following the criticism it received in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Wakefield led the Health Resources and Services Administration and served as acting deputy secretary of the Health and Human Services department. (KHN article, 9/6/22)
