Staffing shortages cause hospitals to curtail services
At least six hospitals publicized plans in recent months to cut back services due to staffing shortages. The services cut include inpatient, surgical and emergency services; a freestanding birthing center; labor and delivery services; and an inpatient addiction recovery program. To combat the nursing shortage in Florida, Florida-based Keiser University and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses formed the Keiser University Nursing Advisory Council. The council, comprised of government officials, educational leaders and health care industry experts, will determine and share best practices to develop short- and long-term solutions to Florida’s nursing shortage.
