Scholars look at how value-based care can empower nurses
The transition to value-based payment systems presents opportunities for nurses, according to an article in Nursing Outlook. With up to a third of U.S. health care spending estimated to be wasteful, nurses can help identify unnecessary tests and other procedures that provide little patient benefit. “Nursing care will play a large role in determining if hospitals receive higher (or lower) payments,” the authors write. The paper is the second in a six-part series. The first paper explained what nurses need to know about value-informed nursing practice. (Nursing Outlook article, 2/24/22)
