Report on the future of nursing faculty released

Schools of nursing should collaborate with AONL and other organizations to address challenges to meet workforce needs, states a recommendation in a report about the future of nursing faculty. The report suggests offering conference sessions and webinars focused on best practices of successful partnerships. Another recommendation includes advocating for changes to accreditation standards to help schools negotiate for needed faculty resources. The report summarizes discussion from an American Association of Colleges of Nursing invitational summit held in October 2022 exploring faculty recruitment and retention. During the meeting, 20 nursing school deans joined with AACN Board and staff leaders to discuss the need to recruit younger and more diverse faculty, leverage academic-practice partnerships and adapt accreditation standards.
