Program aims to increase underrepresented nursing PhD candidates
The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is starting an eight-week intensive program to recruit and prepare students from groups underrepresented in nursing with mentorship, resources, networking and career guidance to facilitate competitive PhD program applications. The Pathway to PhD Nursing Scholars will focus on post-baccalaureate nurses and address structural inequities in PhD education. Based on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the 2021 National Academy of Medicine report recommendations to recruit and support students from diverse backgrounds, the program will run for five years with 10 scholars selected each year.
