Professional development helps keep passion alive
To reignite their nurses’ passion for nursing practice one year into the COVID-19 pandemic, nursing leaders at Novant in the Winston-Salem, N.C. area, created an RN professional development experience, which combined reflection, peer review, and structured one-on-one conversations with their managers. Nurses were asked to create a plan with two goals, one for professional development, the other for self-care, and to provide feedback on how leadership could better support the nursing staff. AONL member Loraine Frank-Lightfoot DNP, RN, vice president and chief nursing officer of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, described the effort in the May issue of Voice of Nursing Leadership.
