Porter-O’Grady and Bredimus advise on managing disinformation
In a time of crisis, disinformation management is critical, and leaders must demonstrate their capacity “to learn, adapt, and incorporate new information into their thinking and acting on the go.” This involves using clarifying language to emphasize current evidence while sidelining opinion. These reflections by Tim Porter-O’Grady, EdD, APRN, and Brandon “Kit” Bredimus, DNP, RN, appeared in the August issue of Nurse Leader. The authors concluded by writing, “The role of the leader is to maintain balance and intentional response in a manner that positively addresses critical issues and helps people and organizations problem-solve and seek solutions that are effective and sustainable,” noting, “This work is not for the faint of heart…. Quite simply, this effort requires courage.” (Nurse Leader article, 8/1/22)
