Nurse scientists find opportunities, challenges in clinical settings
In a recent article in the Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA), nurse scientists described the opportunities and challenges they face in clinical practice settings. The authors’ observations were based on a September 2020 discussion at a convening of the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science. Despite the increased availability of nurse scientist roles, the panelists said few of their peers had access to statistical support, software purchases or internal grant funding, all of which are needed to support their work. They highlighted strong partnerships with chief nurse officers as critical for the success of nurse scientists in clinical settings.
