Nurse leaders should upskill nurses in digital literacy, CNO says
CNOs should upskill nurses in digital literacy and specialized training programs to implement artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and virtual care platforms effectively, according to AONL member Vicky Tilton, DNP, RN. Tilton, senior vice president, patient care services, and CNO at Valley Children’s Healthcare in Medera, Calif., says these technologies will continue to impact nurse workflows and care delivery. Nurses will need to take advantage of their full potential while addressing data privacy concerns, interoperability issues and disparities in access to digital health tools. In addition to preparing to implement technology, Tilton believes CNOs should expand mental health training and resources for nurses and foster a culture of empathy and self-care.
