Nurse leader details DEI initiatives at Mass General
Medical vans that take care to patients and treatment plans that factor in community context are two examples of how Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston actualizes its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). AONL member Deborah Washington, PhD, RN, the hospital’s DEI health and community partnerships manager, spoke with HealthLeaders Media about what nurse leaders need to implement DEI initiatives in their organizations. Data about the workforce and community demographics and a willingness to listen to patients and communities are essential, she said. She also stressed the importance of nurse leaders making their voices heard in the public square. (HealthLeaders Media article, 5/13/22)
