NQF report offers improved maternal morbidity, mortality measures
The final report from the Maternal Morbidity and Mortality project, an initiative of the National Quality Forum (NQF), provides practical recommendations for enhancing maternal morbidity and mortality measurement to improve maternal health outcomes. Two key measurement frameworks account for the influence of health literacy, race, ethnicity and other social determinants, which lead to disparate health outcomes. “Improvement in maternal mortality and morbidity measurement is integral to achieving and addressing gaps in health equity and improving women’s health,” said a representative of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which funded the project.
