NQF releases quality measure review
The National Quality Forum (NQF) this week released a final report of its recommendations on performance measures used in public reporting and federal performance-based payment programs. The organization reviewed 32 health care quality and efficiency measures used across seven different federal programs. It recommended three for removal, four for removal under certain conditions, nine for retention and 16 for conditional retention. This is the first time the organization has provided recommendations on the potential removal of measures. The NQF also released a report showing how opioid and mental health quality measures are critical to tracking and preventing overdoses and deaths. The report seeks to help health systems, payers and other stakeholders successfully implement the NQF’s Opioids and Behavioral Health Measurement Framework. (NQF news release, 9/26/22)
