NCC supports bill to improve care access in workers’ compensation
AONL was one of 51 Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) members to sign a letter to U.S. Senate leaders Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) urging them to pass H.R. 6087, the Improving Access to Workers’ Compensation for Injured Federal Workers Act. The bipartisan legislation would eliminate outdated barriers in the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act that limit the ability of nurse practitioners to diagnose and oversee the care and treatment of federal employees who are injured or become ill while at work. The ability would “improve access to health care for injured or ill federal employees, particularly in rural and underserved communities” and “may even get injured federal employees back to work more quickly,” the letter stated.
