Joint Commission updates perinatal care certification program as of 2023

To ensure organizations provide integrated, coordinated, patient-centered prenatal care through the postpartum period, the Joint Commission, in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, will offer Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care (ACPC) starting Jan. 1, 2023. The ACPC program will replace the current Perinatal Care Certification Program. ACPC certification encompasses all pregnancies while focusing on high-risk areas for maternal morbidity and mortality, such as mental health disorders including substance use, addressing social needs, and identifying health care disparities.
