House companion to travel nursing bill introduced

Reps. Greg Murphy, R-N.C., and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, today introduced a House companion to AHA- and AONL-supported legislation that would direct the Government Accountability Office to study the travel nursing industry’s business and payment practices, including their impact on workforce shortages and potential price gouging during the COVID-19 pandemic.   “Many hospitals and health systems are facing significant financial and operational concerns as a result of the unsustainable rates charged by travel nurse staffing agencies,” AHA said in a letter of support. “We thank you for introducing your bill, which will highlight many of these concerns.”
Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., introduced the Senate bill last month. (AHA News article, 7/28/22)
