Hatmaker discusses workforce challenges with AHA chair
Debbie Hatmaker, chief nursing officer of the American Nurses Association, the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Nurses Foundation, spoke with American Hospital Association (AHA) Board Chair Wright Lassiter III in this month’s Chair File conversation. The two leaders discussed workplace violence, the current nursing shortage, retention strategies, and ways to ensure safe and supportive work environments where nurses feel valued for their work. “It is both an exciting and trying time in health care — and for nurses in particular — as we’re hopefully coming out of this pandemic,” Hatmaker observed. The video of their conversation is available on YouTube. (AHA News article, 3/28/22)
