HHS releases roadmap for behavioral health integration
The Health and Human Services (HHS) department last week released a roadmap for how the government can better integrate mental health and substance use care into health care, social service and early childhood systems. The agency’s Behavioral Health Coordinating Council developed the report based on feedback the HHS secretary received from patients and providers during a nationwide tour to discuss the issue. Also in HHS news, the agency awarded $3.6 million in grants to strengthen perinatal and postnatal support structures for patients with substance use disorders (SUD) and to train SUD providers to identify and address intimate partner violence.
