HHS hosts briefing today on updated overdose prevention strategy
This week, Health and Human Services (HHS) released an overdose prevention strategy focused on prevention, harm reduction, evidence-based treatment and recovery support. “Our new strategy focuses on people—putting the very individuals who have struggled with addiction in positions of power,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. The HHS Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs will host a stakeholder briefing on the strategy today at 3:30 p.m. ET. Its guiding principles include equity; data and evidence; coordination, collaboration and integration; and reducing stigma. Register to attend the briefing via Zoom. (HHS report, 10/27/21)
