Grant to boost nurse training programs
The Department of Labor this week announced $80 million in grants will be awarded to 25 nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and tribal organizations through its Nursing Expansion Grants program to support nurse training programs. The program offers two tracks. The Nursing Education Profession Track will expand the number of clinical and vocational nursing instructors and educators by training new or upskilling experienced current or former nurses into schools to become instructors and educators. The Nursing Career Pathway Track will train front-line health care professionals and paraprofessionals to advance along a career pathway. The grants emphasize training people from historically marginalized and underrepresented populations to advance employment equity in underserved communities and improve workforce diversity. Applications are due by Jan. 6, 2023. (Department of Labor news release, 10/3/22)
