Diversity mentoring program seeks hospital partners
A mentoring program to build the diversity of the nursing workforce is seeking health system partners. Sponsored by the Campaign for Action, the program pairs the campaign’s members with students from diverse backgrounds at nearby schools of nursing. The one-on-one relationships seek to improve school retention and graduation rates and increase the national council licensing exam pass rates for students from diverse backgrounds. Since launching five years ago at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, the program has expanded to include about 100 schools serving Black, Hispanic and American Indian and Alaska Native students. The Campaign for Action is an initiative of AARP, the AARP Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. (Campaign for Action blog, 2/24/23)
