CDC reports rise in flu cases
In the final week of 2021, the number of influenza cases rose, especially in the eastern and central United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said most of the viruses in circulation are influenza A(H3N2), which is genetically closely related to the virus used to manufacture this season’s influenza vaccine. “There is still time to benefit from flu vaccination this season,” the CDC said, noting flu vaccination uptake appears to be lower this season than last.
