Administration considers allowing COVID-19 second boosters for all adults

Biden administration health officials stated earlier this week they are considering authorizing a second COVID-19 booster shot for all adults. According to federal data, only 34% of eligible American adults have received an initial booster shot. Experts believe that official COVID-19 case counts are significantly lower than the true number of infections; a University of Washington research center suggested that the actual infection numbers in the first week of July were about seven times higher than the 107,000 reported cases each day over the past two weeks. A study released last week found that cancer screening declined during the pandemic. Immunocompromised patients comprised 12.2% of all COVID-19 hospitalizations, despite making up only 2.7% of the adult population in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
