APIC, AHA, AHRQ release infection prevention tools

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) released four free calculators to help hospitals and health systems estimate the cost and benefit of interventions to prevent health care-associated infections. The tools were developed in collaboration with the American Hospital Association (AHA) and funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). In April, AHRQ plans to release a customizable toolkit to help prevent central-line associated bloodstream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections in intensive care units.
