AHA supports vaccination mandates in health care settings

The American Hospital Association (AHA) Board of Trustees approved a policy statement strongly urging the vaccination of all health care personnel. The AHA also expressed its support for hospitals and health systems that adopt mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policies, with local factors and circumstances shaping whether and how mandatory policies are implemented. AHA is asking members to share an advisory about the policy with senior leaders. AHA also advises organizations to consult with their compliance and/or legal teams to assess whether state laws may constrain implementation of a mandatory policy. AONL supports the AHA’s policy statement. As of July 21, more than 40 health systems had adopted mandates. (AHA policy statement, 7/21/21)
