AHA revises criteria for diversity award
The American Hospital Association (AHA) has revised the criteria for the Carolyn Boone Lewis Equity of Care Award. The AHA gives the award annually in recognition of outstanding efforts among hospitals and health care systems to advance equity of care to all patients and to share lessons and progress made toward diversity, inclusion and health equity. To provide more equitable opportunities for different types of hospitals and health systems, the award was redesigned so that hospitals and health systems can apply to the category that best represents their progress on the health equity journey. Organizations are now required to register for the Health Equity Roadmap and complete the Health Equity Transformation Assessment prior to applying. Applications for the 2023 award are due Nov. 18.
