AHA Board Chair spotlights workforce trends
American Hospital Association (AHA) Board Chair Wright Lassiter III, CEO of Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, spoke about workforce trends with Erin Fraher, PhD, director of the Carolina Health Workforce Research Center. She suggested the need to turn workforce planning on its head by planning for patients instead of planning for professions. Fraher noted that the fundamental questions for hospitals and health systems are, “How are we deploying [people]? How are we utilizing them to the best possible ability to keep them happy, keep the hospital productive and keep patients healthy and well?” They also discussed diversifying the health care workforce while addressing broader community needs and ensuring workforce well-being.
