Two more states join Nurse Licensure Compact
On July 1, Louisiana and Kansas joined 30 other states in implementing the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), which allows nurses to practice in both their own state and other NLC states with one multistate license. The NLC enables nurses to provide telehealth services across state lines and to respond to out-of-state disasters without acquiring additional licenses. NLC advocates hail adoption of the compact as an important step toward increasing access to nursing services and reducing the regulatory burden on nurses. (NCSBN news release, 7/9/19)
